How this is calculated
Zakat is due at 2.5% of your net zakatable wealth, provided that wealth has been above the nisab threshold for one lunar year.
Nisab is defined as the value of 87.48g of gold or 612.36g of silver. The silver standard gives a lower threshold, which means more people qualify to pay — most scholars recommend it for that reason, and it's the default here.
This tool does arithmetic, not fiqh. Debts, business inventory, and investment holdings have genuine differences of opinion attached to them — check with someone qualified for anything unusual in your situation.
